Announcing our Charity of the Year!
We are delighted to announce that our Charity of the Year for 2021 will be Centre 33.
The last year has been a challenging one and being a central part of the Cambridgeshire community we have witnessed the impact that the pandemic has had on individuals and in particular with their mental health. For that reason we made the decision to support a local charity whose services have an emphasis on mental health provision and which offers free assistance to the young people of Cambridgeshire. With the increase in demand for this resource, this charity will need our support more than ever over the coming months.
That charity is Centre 33, a Cambridge based charity that offers free and confidential support to young people up to the age of 25. The objective of Centre 33 is to provide free counselling and support, coupled with offering information on sexual health, housing, budgeting, and a young carers’ project.
Panther Taxis owner John Raynham says:
“Over the last 30 years of operating we have always endeavoured to focus our support on local charities. This year, more than ever, we know they will need our help to maintain their essential support services. Young people in particular have experienced much uncertainty and instability, which has had a significant effect both mentally and financially on younger people. Supporting Centre 33 seemed the natural choice to make”
Our main support will be in the form of a quarterly donation, which will be 1% of every booking paid by card, via the Panther Taxis app, from 1st Jan 2021 to 31st Dec 2021.
The hope is that the money raised for Centre 33 will go some way to assist young people in fulfilling their potential, helping them to overcome problems through a range of free and confidential services.
Centre 33 Executive Director Beth Green says:
“We are so grateful to Panther taxis for choosing Centre 33 as their charity of the year for 2021 and we look forward to working with them. Panther are an important local business and are clearly keen to support local communities that have been hit hard by Covid-19. The last twelve months have been difficult and we know that young people still face many challenges, around education, employment, isolation, anxiety and a deterioration in their mental health. By generously donating 1% of sales paid by card through their app, Panther and their customers will help to make sure we can continue to be there to support young people with these challenges.”
It is with great pleasure that we are able to make this statement of support and we look forward to hearing of the benefits that this will bring to those young people who need it.
As our donations are based on taxi journeys booked and paid by card, via the app, next time you take a journey with us please consider this booking method to automatically help generate more funds for our chosen charity for 2021, Centre 33.
