Panther Taxis are the largest taxi company in the Cambridge and East of England area with a fleet of over 480 vehicles. We use the lastest technology in the whole process of booking a taxi, from the initial request by the customer to the data despatch of the taxi, thus providing our customers with the most efficient and reliable service available. Our fleet is based in Cambridge City centre but will undertake work going to or from almost anywhere - prices on application!

All of the taxis are licensed by either Cambridge City Council or South Cambridgeshire District Council.  All vehicles undergo a regular safety check which is carried out by the relevant council.  All drivers undergo enhanced level Criminal Record Bureau checks, have regular medicals, and are tested as to their standard of driving.  Further checks relating to their knowledge of the local area are also made.

Our fleet consists of several different types of vehicle, ranging from wheelchair accessible to executive type vehicles, ordinary saloon cars to London style black cabs.  All vehicles are fitted with taxi meters which are calibrated and checked to ensure that the cost per mile is standard throughout our fleet.  Over 100 of the vehicles on our fleet are Cambridge Hackney Carriages.  These are the vehicles that work the main ranks in the city and can be hailed in the streets within the city boundaries.  These vehicles are distinguishable by the lit for hire and top signs that are on them and they carry Cambridge City Council door crests as well as the Panther Taxis logo.

We are members of both the Cambridge City Council and Cambridgeshire County Council taxicard schemes so participating cardholders can expect all of our drivers to accept the relevant vouchers.

Bookings can be made by telephone or by e-mail through this site. E-mail should be used for advance bookings (more than 24 hours hence) only and such bookings will be confirmed by return e-mail.

We have invested in technology that allows us to telephone our customers to advise them that their taxi is outside waiting for them. This service, named Callback, is provided free of charge and can be requested when a booking is made.

Our most recent technological addition is IVR Advanced; this technology allows customers to book a taxi for any time within the next 24 hours, from an address currently held within our telephone database, without the need to speak to a call taker at the press of a button.  A further enhancement to the IVR service is the back on phone facility, which is designed to improve customer safety.  This feature will intercept a customer calling back and updates them as to the progress of their booking, identifying how long ago their vehicle was dispatched, and the make, model and colour of the vehicle allocated to them.  

We also provide account facilities; all drivers can provide a receipt upon request, and we accept payment by debit/credit card via a secure online payment system.  Payments by debit/credit card incur a 5% surcharge.
